Tuesday

Charlie

Okay, I enjoyed getting to address this to you cutie.

Last night you did not want to sleep in your pack n’ play. Your Dad put you to bed while I bragged about you here and shortly after I got upstairs, you decided it was time for a snack. Afterwards we rocked you and tried putting you back in your pack n’ play, but as soon as we let go, you woke up. I am sure this only happened a couple of times before we wised-up, but it felt like a million. So, from this we resorted to what has become your favorite way for you to sleep, on one of our chests. Yep, you slept great. Mommy didn’t. I tried rolling you to the bed a couple of times, but it didn’t work.

For breakfast you totally rocked your rice cereal and afterwards we went upstairs to play with the only toy you are showing interest in, the red ball. I am a little worried about this. I am thinking you are a little young to be developing OCD.

Charlie, you are testing your parents. Yesterday you had a low grade fever all day, but it never broke 100. Today it did. Luckily there are some experienced moms on this trip who helped reassure me about our tylenol use.

Soon you were packed into your carrier to walk the court yard. We have learned you DO NOT like to be in the hotel room. You scream, which I am not sure if “scream” is a strong enough word for your reaction. You highly enjoyed pulling yourself up to Mom’s ear to scream as you pinched and pulled hair. So we walked a lot today. We sang a lot in the court yard, the hallways, the lobby, and the bar. That’s right, we had our baby, in a bar. Your lack of enjoyment of the room caused you to cut your nap short by two hours, so you decided 6 pm would be a good time to sleep for the night. It is 9:47 pm right now, we aren’t waking you up.

Charlie, tomorrow night we leave Ethiopia for the USA. I pray you decide it is okay to be in a plane and you don’t scream the whole time. Mom and Dad don’t want to walk all of the flights on the way home. We talked today about what to expect tomorrow. We will talk again about it tomorrow and throughout the process.

The connection isn’t good enough for pictures, maybe tomorrow.

We love you Charlie!

Well Charlie, you are breaking your parents in well. Now I am going to remind her, that when the baby sleeps then you should sleep! But I must admit I am very thankful that she took the time to update your blog, then I get to hear all that you are doing and what is going on with you and your parents. And just remember, in the whole sceme of things, the flight home is only a blip in your life. I know you will do fine, and if you scream I am sure that it is because you are just so excited to be heading home!

Much love you to you all and safe travels!
Marcia
