the party. . .

Here's some pictures of your 3rd birthday party!

Love you!

happy birthday

Today is your birthday. You might be sitting on my lap right now because you decided to help write this. . . This morning, when I came to get you, and wished you a happy birthday you replied with, "Secret, Happy Birthday." I am not sure why it is a secret, but we will keep it low key today. We will post more about your party later.

Singing the line, I will fly!, from the song "I Will Go Sailing No More" while watching Toy Story this morning.

Why play with you new marble run when there is a bean box?

This is what love looks like

Tomorrow you turn three. Today you will have your birthday party and celebrate your life. A life your Dada and I so love getting to be a part of. We have watched you grow so much this year. In the past year you have begun to run, jump, gallop, feed yourself, pick your nose, and so much more. I love getting to see your smile every day and I know Dada would say the same.

We are no longer the same people who first stepped off a plane not knowing if you would accept us as your parents. I am pretty sure you have. It took some time, but I see the joy spread across your face when you first see us even after a bit of separation.

We love you Charles Howard Kibreab!

love you!

Counting the days until your birthday!!! We so love you!

So someone has a birthday coming up. So here's a picture review of the past year. . .

I can't drive 55

We have finally found the secrets for getting you through the grocery store. Yep.
Oh! You also have to go and get a cookie.

J and S Live!

So a bit ago, like maybe a month, you went to your first stage performance. That's right, we saw Jake and Sophia Live! You weren't sure about it at first, but based upon the pics, I think you will see you warmed up to the idea.

Before the show. Cuddling with Dada.
 Towards the end of Sophia.

 Half way through???

You LOVED Jake. At the end of the show they shot "gold doubloons" out over the audience. (Ok, it was really gold colored tissue paper.) You kept shouting, "Daboons! Daboons!". I am thinking your first stage performance was a success.

Jumping on the bed at the hotel.  It is a hotel, you can jump on that bed. You may not jump on beds at home.

We might have stopped at one of Mama's favorite places to eat lunch the next day. I don't think you were impressed.

bath time conversation

Charlie, sometime you say the best things.

C- Where Daddy Hook?
Mama- He's still at work. He will be home in a bit.
C- I miss him.

So yesterday was Halloween. The weather wasn't as nice as last year and you struggled more with it this year (we are going to chalk it up to "No Nap Charlie"). This year you went as Woody from your favorite movie, Toy Story.

So here are my favorite pictures from our Pre-Halloween custom try-on and photo shoot.

Okay, I really love the picture of you smiling and holding Woody. You love to carry your Woody doll around.

On Halloween, Grandma stopped by to see you and then we went to Aunt Da's house. (Sorry, Dada didn't take any pictures of you and Grandma.)

Note the "love print" you left on Aunt Da's door. (It was what Aunt Da was calling your finger prints on her fridge, your Dada also called your licking of the door "love prints.")

Okay, so originally you were standing next to me and I said, "Hmmmm." Well you like to copy people or try to copy them. You said, "Hmmmm," and lifted your hand to your chin. We couldn't get you to do it again. So Dada picked you up and did it, so you did it again. So be sure to say, "Hmmmmm," when looking at these pictures.

Following Aunt Da's we went over to your "Aunt" Marcia and "Uncle" Jeff's house for food and trick-or-treating. This is when "No Nap Charlie" really starting coming out. Luckily Aunt Marcia has Toy Story so we watched that while eating and then only went to two houses before calling it a night.
